Zineb Benjelloun is an artist and illustrator from Morocco with a background in the visual arts and documentary film. Her work is inspired by the iconography of the Moroccan urban landscape and attempts to explore and validate the cultural identity of her country by illustrating visually its collective beliefs. At the moment Zineb is working on a graphic novel about a family's history; the book spans three generations, ranging from Morocco's colonial past to its present day. She used a three-month artist residency at Dar Al Ma'mûn in Marrakech to conduct extensive research on the last century. Zineb currently lives in Casablanca.

Martin Ernstsen is a Norwegian comic artist currently living in Oslo. He has a degree in Storytelling (M.A.) from the Konstfack in Stockholm and in Illustration (B.A.) from the Kent Institute of Art and Design. He has published eight comic albums and books with the Norwegian publishing company Jippi Comics, the most recent of which is called "Du snakker med feil person" (2014). Samuel Jaramillo was born in Columbia in 1991 and is currently studying towards a B.A. in Media Arts at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. Throughout the course of his studies, Samuel has worked in diverse media ranging from moving to non-moving images. He was involved in the preproduction and storyboard stages of a number of documentaries and short films, including work on illustrations and narrative structures. He also worked on the side as a cameraman and editor. Samuel has a preference for analogue illustrations, especially of animals. Sylvain Mazas was born in 1980 in Chambéry, France. He studied illustration in Strasbourg before moving to Berlin for an Erasmus semester at the Berlin Weissensee School of Art. His love for the city and the University led him to remain there. In 2007 Sylvain spent three months in Beirut to work on his thesis. This trip was the basis for his first book, titled "Dieses Buch sollte mir gestatten, den Konflikt in Nah-Ost zu lösen, mein Diplom zu kriegen und eine Frau zu finden – Teil 1" ("This book was supposed to solve the conflict in the Middle East, get me my degree and find me a wife – Part 1"). Ulrich Scheel, born in 1976, comes from Berlin and earned his degree in Communication Design at the Berlin Weissensee School of Art. He is best known for his graphic novel "Die sechs Schusse von Philadelphia" ("The Six Shots of Philadelphia"), which was published in 2008 in France and Germany and went on to win the ICOM Prize for "Best German-Language Graphic Novel". Ulrich has been working as a freelance illustrator and comic book artist since 2006. His clients include book publishers, advertising agencies and film production companies. He also began working as a live graphic artist starting in 2011. Ulrich is heavily involved in the development of new and innovative theatre concepts in Germany and Switzerland.

Maki Shimizu was born in 1981 in Tokyo, Japan. She studied fine art in Japan, majoring in printing techniques, before going on to complete a degree in graphic design at the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences. Since 2006 she has worked as an artist and illustrator in Berlin, and since 2013 as a lecturer at BTK University of Art & Design in Berlin. Maki has shown her work at numerous international exhibitions and has published books of art, comics, essays, a poetry collection and children's books. Her oeuvre includes the work "ADAGIO N°2 – Im dunkelsten Winter aller Zeiten" (ADAGIO N°2 – In the darkest winter of all time, 2014), the second part of the ADAGIO series she began in 2011. Ruohan Wang is a Chinese illustrator, animator and audio artist. She currently lives in Berlin, where she studied illustration at the University of the Arts (UdK). In 2016 she completed her M.A. under Professor Henning Wagenbreth. Parallel to her studies, she founded "studio R" and worked as a freelance illustrator on different projects in China and Europe. She also devoted herself to her own projects. She is partial to pencil drawings and likes to mix new techniques with modern aesthetics – although she places tremendous importance on fostering her own style. Martyna Žalalytė is from Vilnius, Lithuania, and currently lives and works in Berlin, where she studies Visual Communication at the University of the Arts (UdK). She works mostly in the fields of illustration and animation. Her work mixes analogue and digital techniques (ink, markers, Photoshop) and examines a diversity of themes ranging from endangered species to emotional vegetables. For the Anthropocene comic book, Martyna developed the prototypical "phosphorus" character as well as its four little "oxygen" companions. This character and its buddies were then taken up and adapted stylistically by the artists working in each respective chapter. Martyna even provided some suggestions with regard to the "journey" undertaken by the phosphorus character through each country – often with a highly tongue-incheek approach.
